Sneakers with Suits for CvC Weekend : As part of Coaches vs. Cancer National Weekend, coaching staffs all over the nation sported sneakers with their suits to help raise awareness for the fight against cancer. For the special occasion, Nike provided our staff with custom Duke Air Force 1's. The shoe features the Duke logo in two places, electric blue around the laces, and each staff member’s initials and number on the heels. The shoe box for the AF1's has the Duke logo and is made of the same wood as the Cameron Indoor Stadium bleachers!

Jon & Gerald Visit Literacy Night at Easley Elementary : Jon Scheyer and Gerald Henderson visited Durham's Easley Elementary on the evening of November 3rd to support the school's Literacy Night. The junior captains spoke to the students, read a book, answered questions about reading, study skills, academics and basketball, and posed for some photos.

Schools Days at Duke with Greg Paulus : Approximately 400 students from nine Durham area middle schools attended the annual School Days at Duke on October 23rd. On campus to get a feel for college life, the students' day included a visit to Cameron Indoor Stadium. Senior captain Greg Paulus spoke to the entire group and also shot some hoops with several of the students. Said Greg, "It was exciting to be given the opportunity to speak to the middle school students. I remember how special and impactful it was to hear from my role models when I was their age, and to be in a position now where I have a chance to make a small difference in a student's life means everything to me."

Duke Children's Hospital Practice : Duke Children's Health Center patients and some of the hospital's biggest supporters attended our practice on October 22nd. The group enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of our facilities, viewed videos in our theater, shot some hoops in the K Center, watched a private five-on-five scrimmage with actual officials, interacted with some of our players after the scrimmage, and then had dinner in Cameron's Hall of Honor. After the meal, Coach K spoke to the group, answered questions, posed for photos, and signed autographs. The annual event was hosted and coordinated by Debbie K. Savarino, our Director of External Relations.

A Coke with Coach K & Coach Cut : Coach K and Coach Cutcliffe spoke to Duke students and held a Q&A in the Great Hall on October 15th. Attendees were offered free food and beverage, and encouraged to attend our Blue-White Scrimmage and the Duke-Miami football game on Saturday.

Chris Duhon's Summer Camp at the Emily K Center : 2004 All-American Chris Duhon returned to Durham again this summer for his annual camp at the Emily K Center from July 21-25. Jon Scheyer, Kyle Singler, Lance Thomas, and Miles Plumlee served as guest speakers throughout the week, answered some questions from the campers, and signed autographs as well.

2008 Summer Camp : Our annual summer basketball camp wrapped up on July 2nd after another three great sessions at Duke. In addition to top-notch instruction and games played on Coach K Court, campers enjoyed nightly interactive lectures given by Coach K, Coach Wojo, Coach Collins, Jason Williams, J.J. Redick and several current players.
